16/06/2023

Many innovative apps in the domains of healthcare, banking, and transportation transportation... connected to the national population data system were first exhibited at the Banking Industry Digital Transformation Day 2023 event held by the State Bank of Vietnam in Hanoi this morning (May 18).

Coming to the Banking Industry Digital Transformation Day held this morning, Mr. Quang (Linh Nam, Hoang Mai, Hanoi) first experienced the medical examination and treatment registration service without having to do any administrative procedures. Simply place your health insurance card and citizen ID card in front of the machine, and all medical examination and treatment needs are picked and controlled by a few clicks. This information is promptly updated in the hospital's operational system, and the medical examination card is issued in only a few minutes.

"I can create an electronic medical record and use my bank card and e-wallet to pay through the systems here, which is very convenient," Mr. Nguyen Minh Quang explained.

Simply place your health insurance card and citizen ID card in front of the machine, and all medical examination and treatment requirements are pre-selected and controlled by a few buttons. This data is then entered into the hospital's operational system, and the medical examination card is printed in a matter of minutes.

Not only the healthcare, finance, and transportation industries, but also numerous new apps based on residential data, are encouraging digital transformation.

When a citizen ID card with a chip is inserted, the machines will be able to link to hundreds of state management agencies' public services, making all transactions faster, more convenient, and more accurate, saving consumers time and money.

"We are committed to providing comprehensive services, from verifying customers' electronic identities to applying biometric recognition AI technology to applications in services, particularly public services, in order to maximize the benefits of national population data," said Ms. Nguyen Mai Phuong, General Director of Epay Service Joint Stock Company.

According to the Director of the National Population Data Center, the application of absolute security features of electronic identification codes and chip-based citizen identification cards not only accelerates the national digital transformation program, but also significantly reduces the rate of criminals exploiting bank vulnerabilities from previous people's identity cards.

"For example, the banking industry no longer needs to invest in systems to store and analyze biometric data, but instead uses it directly, reducing investment problems and adding value to businesses and people," Colonel Vu Van Tan, Director of the National Population Data Center, Ministry of Public Security, emphasized.

Until now, Saint Paul Hospital - Hanoi has adopted a method for receiving patients using citizen identity cards with chips. For the first time, Phu Bai - Hue Airport also trialled the ticketing system and security control with chip-based citizen identity cards. Following the test phase, these applications will be broadly distributed across the country.
